Mendham, New Jersey
Mendham Township New Jersey was incorporated on March 29, 1749 in the southern corner of Morris County, New Jersey.
It originally included what is now Mendham Township, Mendham Borough, Randolph, and most of the Chesters. The current boundaries were established in 1906 when Mendham Borough was formed as an independent municipality.
Before the Revolutionary War, Mendham Township's economy centered on farming and few small industries. The forest produced timber and charcoal, and the rivers provided a resource for iron production. Mica, lead and copper mines, saw mills, grist mills, tanneries, distilleries, and shoe shops were also present around this time.
