Long Hill, New Jersey
Long Hill Township was known as Passaic Township from 1866 until November of 1992, when a majority of the voters elected to change the name of the municipality to Long Hill.
Long Hill Township is bounded by the Passaic River to the south and west, and the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge to the north. It is located in the most southern part of Morris County and borders both Union and Somerset Counties. Originally, Long Hill Township was part of the "Lord Stirling Grant" that included much of the area from Summit to Bernardsville, between Morristown and Watchung.
The Township is comprised of four communities: the villages of Gillette, Millington and Stirling, and the hamlet of Meyersville. Homestead Park is the name of the first subdivision in the Township developed by L. Preston Gates in the 1920's.
